We are working with Reading School District's Intermediate High School to be able to place mentors with a group of 9th graders. During the last school year, our plan was to add 10 new mentors. We exceeded that plan and matched 13 new mentors with students eager to learn and grow. This year, we are planning to add at least 15 new mentors. The need is much greater than that, so we are looking for talented, successful men and women who have a desire to change a life, to be an inspiration and to help students become the best they can be. You will make that difference.
We need to have mentors at the ready to match up with these students and are looking to recruit 10 new mentors before year's end. Look for information here regarding an informal gathering of men and women who are interested in becoming a mentor.
Your application will include clearances necessary to work with students, an interview process and a reference check. There are training sessions throughout the year with helpful tips, guest speakers and idea exchanges.
It’s easy to add a protégé in your life. We ask that you be in contact with your student weekly and plan a face to face meeting centered around a mutually agreed upon activity. M4BY also plans group activities for mentors and protégés several times throughout the year.
